Xbox One getting free multiplayer weekend and EA Access trial
An upcoming weekend promotion will allow Xbox One users to play online multiplayer without an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, and a subsequent promotion will allow those who decide to re-up their Gold subscription (or who already have one) to give Electronic Arts’ own EA Access subscription-based service a whirl.
The free online multiplayer weekend period starts today, June 9, and lasts until Sunday, June 12. During the period’s duration, an Xbox Live Gold subscription is not required to play online multiplayer games. As an added bonus, the Xbox One version of Rocket League will also be completely free during the free multiplayer weekend, allowing interested players to download the game and play it either offline or online.
When the free weekend comes to a close, Xbox One players who have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription will then be able to take advantage of a free EA Access period which will run from June 12-22. During the free period, users will be able to play all of the free games which have been added to the EA Access Vault, including major AAA games such as Battlefield Hardline, Titanfall, and Dragon Age: Inquisition. If a player decides to subscribe to EA Access once the free period has ended ($4.99 monthly or $29.99 annually), they’ll retain any progress they made in the Vault games during the free trial.
