Wolfenstein: Youngblood gets a new trailer ahead of a July 26 release
Bethesda recently dropped a new story trailer for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a spinoff in the nearly forty year old (!) franchise.
This time, instead of lumbering bad-ass B.J. Blazkowicz, you’ll be playing as his daughters, Jessica and Sophia, as they search for their father in Third Reich controlled Paris in the 1980s.
The story hints at a few beats; that Blazkowicz has intentionally disappeared, that he doesn’t want to be found, and that characters from his past are still looking for him despite the decades that have passed since the events of his last adventure.
In a twist that is not hugely surprising, it appears that his daughters are similarly gifted at killing Nazis in a spectacularly violent fashion. With the help of the Da'at Yichud Power Suit that assisted their father through his troubled times in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, they’ll be working together to blast their way to victory with all manner of futuristic weaponry. It looks as though the theme of cooperation will be a narrative focus in addition to a mechanical one; Youngblood has an emphasis on co-op, with each player controlling one of the siblings.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood will launch on July 26th, with a Deluxe Edition ($39.99) and a Standard Edition ($29.99) available. Those who shell out for the Deluxe Edition will be able to use a “Buddy Pass,” meaning a friend will be able to play along in the co-op adventure for free.
