Ubisoft developing movie based on senior citizens and esports

Last year, The Wall Street Journal published an article about the Silver Snipers, a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports team featuring senior citizens – players 60 years old and older. The story followed the formation of the team, originally a marketing idea for Lenovo, which then turned into a real team inspiring other seniors to form their own esports teams and compete in the scene.

Now Ubisoft is making a movie about it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ubisoft has teamed up with Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, the writers and directors of the Amy Schumer comedy I Feel Pretty, to put everything together. There’s no word on a target date for the release of the film.

Ubisoft has been busy in their entertainment division, along with the Rabbids animated series for Netflix, the company also recently launched its Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet comedy series for Apple TV+ and is currently producing a film based on their game, The Division, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain for Netflix.
