Tetris Effect: The new puzzler from the creators of Rez

It looks like Tetris back, with an interesting twist. Named after the real-world phenomenon of people seeing Tetris pieces everywhere after playing for long periods of time, Tetris Effect attempts to replicate this brain trickery by immersing you in the puzzling world with interactive music, backgrounds, and visuals.

Tetris Effect will also allow you to experience this ancient (by video game standards) puzzle game with PSVR, which isn’t new territory for creators Enhance. Their VR port of Rez proves they are well qualified to create games in this space, so we’re interested to see what they do with this quintessential puzzle franchise.

According to a press release from Enhance, “From deep beneath the ocean to the furthest reaches of outer space and everywhere between, TETRIS EFFECT’s 30-plus stages take players on a wondrous, emotional journey through the universe. The core of the game is still Tetris - one of the most popular puzzle games of all time - but like you’ve never seen it, or heard it, or felt it before.”

You can see for yourself in the trailer above. Just don’t watch it too many times, or you might start seeing line blocks when you close your eyes.
