Star Wars: Squadrons revealed with cinematic trailer, arrives in October

Last week cover art was revealed for EA’s next Star Wars game, so the company came out and announced Star Wars: Squadrons, and now have released a cinematic trailer revealing the game along with an official announcement of what to expect from the game.

Star Wars: Squadrons is a first-person space dogfighting game set in the Star Wars universe and will feature 5v5 multiplayer dogfights and fleet battles. The story takes place shortly after the events of Return of the Jedi, during the fall of the Empire and the rise of the Republic. The game will feature never-before-seen planets, like gas giant Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan, and a new cast of characters plus cameos from familiar characters.

“We created this game for every Star Wars fan who has ever dreamt about soaring across the galaxy in their favorite starfighter,” said Ian Frazier, Creative Director, Motive Studios in a statement. “Through the collaboration of the teams at Motive and Lucasfilm, we’ve been able to create a high-fidelity starfighter experience with an authentic storyline that invites Star Wars fans to explore never-before-seen corners of the galaxy in their own ship. We’re excited to show all this in action this week at EA Play Live.”

The game will launch on October 2, 2020 for $39.99 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) and will playable on VR on PS4 and PC with cross-play support.

EA will share gameplay footage during its EA Live presentation on June 18 at 4pm PST. Check out the trailer below:
