Rockstar Games shuts down servers to honor George Floyd
Amid nationwide protests and conversation around police brutality in the Black community, Rockstar Games has announced they will shut down their GTA Online and Red Dead Online servers to honor George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis Police custody last month, and support the Black Lives Matter movement.
In a tweet posted on its official account, Rockstar Games announced the servers will be offline from 2pm to 4pm EST. In a followup tweet, the company also encouraged supporting Black-owned businesses and groups with a link to a list of organizations. Check out the tweet below:
Following the memorial, we hope you will join us in further honoring the many victims of America's racial injustices by supporting their families, black-owned businesses, those marching on the streets, and coalitions through the organizations listed here: https://t.co/yIQu2R1pJb
