PlayStation 5 can play most PlayStation 4 games, except 10
One of the biggest questions surrounding PlayStation 5 since its announcement was its backward compatibility. While Xbox Series X will make it possible to play games from not only Xbox One, but Xbox 360 and the original Xbox, we learned early on that PlayStation 5 would only go as far back as PlayStation 4 but not every game. Of course, that worried possible buyers who have huge libraries of PS4 games.
Fortunately, the majority of PlayStation 4’s more than 4,000 games will be playable on PlayStation 5 except these 10 according to Sony:
- Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
- TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
- Just Deal With It!
- Shadow Complex Remastered
- Robinson: The Journey
- We Sing
- Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
- Joe's Diner
This goes for both disc and digital games. PlayStation’s support page offers easy instructions on how to transfer your games and saves over to PlayStation 5. While the majority of PS4 games will be playable, only a select few will be taking advantage of PS5’s “Game Boost,” a feature that makes PS4 games run with a higher or smoother framerate. PlayStation has yet to release a list of those games.
