Pandemic and other board games are coming to the Epic Games Store for free

One good way to take your mind off the frightening Coronavirus news that seems to be everywhere these days is to settle in for a nice relaxing digital recreation of a great board Pandemic. Fortunately, from February 6th through the 13th, you'll be able to download Pandemic, Carcassonne, and Ticket to Ride free from the Epic Games Store.

All three games come from Asmodee Digital, developers who have established themselves as the foremost names in digital board game adaptations. These free games are a way to celebrate Asmodee's new partnership with the Epic Games Store, and after February 20 these titles will be available for sale on that storefront for the same price as on Steam ($9.99 each). According to the associated press release, the games will "remain available on Steam during the free game program’s duration and afterwards."

Ticket to Ride is a popular train-themed strategy game, and the digital version offers a tutorial and both single-player, online multiplayer, and local multiplayer (for folks who don't have the physical board game on hand). Carcassonne: The Official Board Game is a tile-placement game themeed around medieval France, and also offers a single-player and multiplayer modes.

Pandemic: The Board Game is a cooperative experience in which players work together to treat and cure diseases as they spread around the globe. The game doesn't have online multiplayer, but can be played solo or in couch co-op mode.
