New Middle-earth: Shadow of War trailer shows off the game’s open world
Middle-earth: Shadow of War, the upcoming sequel to developer Monolith’s hit action-adventure Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, will allow players to venture beyond the regions of Mordor seen in the first game and into other parts of J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic fantasy universe. The newest trailer shows what some of those new areas will look like.
The trailer includes glimpses of explorable regions such as Cirith Ungol, the Island of Nurn, Gorgoroth, and more. There’s also a fair bit of combat footage included, showing how much Shadow of War aims to build on Shadow of Mordor’s already impressive combat mechanics.
At the end of the trailer, viewers can catch a glimpse of Shadow of War’s pre-order bonus: a pack of four legendary Orc champions and a special ‘Epic Sword of Dominion’ in-game weapon. The game’s official website also reveals there are four different editions of Shadow of War being offered, with more expensive options including access to various bits of post-launch DLC that include two Nemesis expansions, two story expansions, and more.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War is set to launch on August 22 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
