New Death Stranding trailer is awesome, creepy, and enigmatic

Death Stranding, the strange new game which serves as Hideo Kojima’s first post-Konami project, got a new trailer last night during The Game Awards and it’s just as bizarre and mysterious as its debut trailer which premiered earlier this year.

There’s no Norman Reedus this time around, but the trailer does include characters played by two other popular Hollywood personalities. First, we can see a man dressed in a suit and holding some sort of container who bears a striking resemblance to famed director Guillermo Del Toro (who happens to be a good friend of Kojima’s and who collaborated with him on the ill-fated Silent Hills game which also would have starred Norman Reedus).

As Del Toro’s character wanders through Death Stranding’s strange and alien world, he soon encounters what appears to be the game’s central villain played by Hannibal and Doctor Strange actor Mads Mikkelsen.

In true Kojima form, the trailer presents many more questions than it answers. We still don’t have a solid release date for Death Stranding, though Kojima previously confirmed that it will be an open-world action game and that it will be exclusive to PlayStation 4.
