More Kingdom Hearts, World of Tanks, and everything else shown during Nintendo’s Direct Mini 2
Nintendo graced us with another Nintendo Direct Mini, showcasing more of their partners’ upcoming titles. Once again this isn’t going to have anything major like Breath of the Wild 2 in it, but it does have some pretty interesting titles for both casual and hardcore gamers. Though, to be honest this one skews a bit more to the casual side. Let’s take a look.
Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory
The new Kingdom Hearts rhythm game is coming to switch. Tap buttons in time with the rhythm defeat enemies, bosses, and fly through cutscenes of a full remake of Frozen. Clearing stages will unlock a music player and, more importantly, story cinematics so you can finally figure out what’s going on in the Kingdom Hearts story. The game also includes online multiplayer, eight-player local multiplayer, and a brand new plot focusing on Kairi that continues where Kingdom Hearts 3 left off. Not that you actually get to play as Kairi though. I mean why would they ever let us do that?
Melody of Memory will be available on Nintendo Switch systems on November 13 and you can pre-purchase it now.
Fuser is a really interesting music mixing game. Instead of being a rhythm game, it’s actually a game about mixing together your best possible DJ set. You play with friends and you each take a turn on the decks. Your friends rate you and the best mix ends up winning. Fuser will be available on the Nintendo Switch this fall.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack
The Taiko no Tatsujin or Taiko Drum Master if you are used to the Americanization in arcades, is coming back to Nintendo consoles with the new Rhythmic Adventure Pack. These are basically rhythm RPGs. You form a party, raise monsters, and fight against the forces of darkness, all while playing a rhythm drum game. Of course, there are just rhythm modes available with over 130 songs to drum along to. It will launch on Nintendo Switch in Winter 2020.
World of Tanks Blitz
This free to play tank combat game is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Choose your favorite tank, team up with friends, and destroy the opponent with heavy ordinance, all while earning money to customize your dream tank. And hey, maybe you’ll even have a tank battle on the moon! World of Tanks Blitz launches on the Switch… now!
Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions
There is a big difference between fighting games, which are largely about spacing and timing, and boxing games, which look to replicate the sport boxing experience. Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is somewhere between the two, offering a more casual take on the boxing experience without all the simulationist levers and gears. You can play as iconic characters from the Rocky franchise including Rocky, Apollo, and Adonis Creed, Ivan and Victor Drago, and Clubber Lang. There’s also local and online multiplayer. It will launch on the Switch in Spring 2021.
Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend
The first three games in the SaGa series, originally named Final Fantasy Legend are coming to the Switch. These three titles were all Gameboy titles, so you can imagine that they are a little… let’s say… nostalgic looking. This collection will have useful features like a high-speed mode and save states, as well as several different backgrounds that you can put on your virtual Gameboy. It will launch on the Switch on December 15 and will be available for pre-purchase now.
Just Dance 2021
Another year another Just Dance. 40 new tracks, many of which have become TikTok famous, are now part of the soundtrack. Including Feel Special by Twice, All the Good Girls Go to Hell by Billie Eilish, Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa, Senorita by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello, and Juice by Lizzo. It also includes a co-op mode to come together with other dancers. It will launch on the Switch on November 12.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
This puzzle game was the big headliner of the show and… to be honest, it fits. Any Tetris or Puyo Puyo fan is going to want to pick this one up. It includes a brand new adventure mode, new challenges, a new battle mode based on Tetris Battle Gaiden where you get to customize skills to use against the opponent, new casual battle modes, and all of the modes from the original game! There are also more modes that will be revealed as we head up to launch. It will launch on the Switch on December 8th.
The wrap-up sizzle reel
Finally, the show closed with a quick list of games and release dates for Nintendo Switch, many of which were ports. They include:
- Minecraft Dungeons: Creeping Winter – September
- Jump Force Deluxe Edition – August 28
- Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions – August 28
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition – August 27
