Lord of the Rings Online’s Mordor expansion has been delayed
If you’re one of the many who still play the venerable MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online (or ‘LoTRO’ if you want to be one of the cool kids), you’re likely wondering where the heck the game’s recently announced Mordor expansion is since it was supposed to launch yesterday. Well, it turns out that, much like fully fledged games, game expansions can be delayed too.
According to this recent post on the LoTRO forums, an unforeseen complication has forced developer Standing Stone Games to delay Mordor’s launch. While the expansion was originally supposed to launch yesterday, July 31, it will now launch at a later undisclosed date. What was the issue exactly? We’ll let Standing Stone tell you:
“While preparing over the weekend to release the expansion on Monday, we discovered an issue in the build that impacted the ability of monsters and NPCs to move around correctly. This problem was specifically identified in older content."
The above phrasing doesn’t make it sound like such a huge issue, but if it was big enough that Standing Stone felt it needed to delay an entire expansion, then it’s likely that simply letting the expansion continue on schedule would have been the wrong move to make.
Standing Stone promised that more information on the new release date will be shared soon.
