Kevin Hart signs on to play Roland in Borderlands movie
Back in December there was talk around actor and comedian joining the cast of the Borderlands movie, but now it’s official according to The Hollywood Reporter – Hart will be portraying Roland, a highly trained soldier with private military experience. While the Roland character is solid with any type of weapon, he’s most proficient with shotguns and combat rifles.
In the game, Roland is a hero-like figure so the casting of Kevin Hart has come into question as if the character would be comedy relief, but apparently, this is a serious, non-comedic role for Hart.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Kevin,” said Eli Roth, the director of the Borderlands movie, in a statement. “Borderlands is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”
Cate Blanchett has already been cast as Lilith, and Craig Mazin, who is currently writing The Last of Us TV series for HBO, wrote the film’s script.
