Intellivision shows off more games for its Amico console
If you’re of a certain age, you may remember those old Intellivision commercials from the ‘80s. It was the dawn of the home video game console, and Intellivision and Atari would go head-to-head, especially in commercials, about who had the better system and better games.
Fast forward 30-something years later, the video game industry has changed and the folks at Intellivision are missing that old school, retro-gaming feel. Granted, they’ve been dormant for a long time, but they’re back have been working on their new console, Amico, for a couple of years now.
The Intellivision Amico was announced back in 2018 and the company has been showing it off at your favorite conventions. The games for the console are mostly 2D and 2.5D, feature couch-play, and exclusive to Amico. There are a handful of reimagined classics like Pong, Missile Command, and Lode Runner along with new games from classic franchises like Toejam & Earl, Earthworm Jim, and Frogger.
Pre-orders for the Founder’s edition sold out in January so the company is now offering gamers a chance to pre-order through its VIP program, which you can sign up for here.
The console doesn’t launch until October 10, 2020 and will cost $200, which also includes five games. Additional games will be priced between $2.99 and $9.99. Check out the latest trailer below:
