Indiana Jones game in the works at Bethesda
There’s been more than 25 Indiana Jones-based video games in the life of the film’s franchise. Starting with Raiders of the Lost Ark on the Atari 2600 in 1982 to the excellent LEGO Indiana Jones games of the recent modern era. However, we haven’t seen a proper core gaming Indiana Jones game since 2009’s Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, and… it wasn’t too well received. Over the years, gamers have been getting their adventure treasure hunter fix through Uncharted and Tomb Raider games.
Now with the launch of Lucasfilm Games, Lucasfilm’s game licensing division, it looks like Indiana Jones is making a comeback to video games.
Developer and publisher Bethesda Games tweeted a teaser announcing an Indiana Jones game is in the works. While we don’t have a release window for the game, we do know it’s being developed by Bethesda-owned Machine Games (Wolfenstein: New Order, Wolfenstein: Youngblood) and will be a wholly new original story, not based on any of the films.
Check out the tweet:
A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It'll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!
