Gears of War 4 celebrates its gold status with an official launch trailer

Gears of War 4 has gone gold, and to celebrate the completion of the game’s development cycle, Microsoft and The Coalition have released its official launch trailer to help get fans excited.

The two-minute trailer doesn’t contain any actual gameplay, but it does do a good job of setting the stage for Gears of War 4’s new conflict which pits a new trio of protagonists against enemies both familiar and alien. Series mainstay Marcus Fenix also makes a return, and the fact that he’s now 25 years older than he was during the events of Gears of War 3 hasn’t hampered his ability to kick butt in the slightest.

Gears of War 4 will launch on October 11 for both Xbox One and PC. The game will be part of Microsoft’s new Xbox Play Anywhere program, which means that buying the game for one platform will grant free access to a copy for the other platform. Pre-ordering Gears of War 4 will also grant access to a trio of exclusive multiplayer character skins: Old Man Marcus, Zombie Dom, and Tomorrow Anya. Those who pre-order the game’s Ultimate Edition will be able to start playing four days early on October 7.
