Five more characters I want to see in Injustice 2
Shortly after the official announcement that Injustice: Gods Among Us was getting a sequel, I published a list of five DC characters who I felt deserved a spot on the sequel’s roster. Since then, two of the five characters from my original list (Black Canary and Robin) have been confirmed and there’s plenty of time for the remaining three to be confirmed as well.
In the meantime, I actually managed to come up with another list of five characters I want to see in Injustice 2 and I have outlined them below.
There have been many different interpretations of Amanda “The Wall” Waller, head of Task Force X a.k.a the Suicide Squad, but in pretty much all of them she has been portrayed as a tough-as-nails, no-nonsense woman who isn’t afraid to put the super-villains she works with in her place and, in some cases, even get her own hands dirty when push comes to shove. I’d love to see Waller step into the Injustice 2 ring, if only to hear the no-doubt comical dialogue exchanges she would have with her Suicide Squad subordinates like Harley Quinn and Deadshot.
Ra’s Al Ghul
The immortal head of the League of Assassins has long been one of Batman’s greatest foes and it would certainly be neat to see an expert swordsman like Ra’s Al Ghul show up to throw a wrench into the plans of the World’s Greatest Detective. Even better, since NetherRealm is implementing special alternate character skins for certain fighters, it could easily add in Ra’s’ daughter Talia Al Ghul as just such a skin since Talia was trained by her father and would thus have a near-identical fighting style.
Of course, having Talia as the default and Ra’s as the alternate skin could work as well, especially since Injustice 2’s Robin will be none other than Damian Wayne, the son of Talia and Bruce Wayne. After all, nothing says family like beating the holy heck out of each other in furious martial arts battles while simultaneously working to thwart (or aid) the plans of a megalomaniac Superman.
Rose Wilson, a.k.a Ravager, is as fierce a fighter as they come, and that’s mainly because she was raised and trained by her father Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke. Since Deathstroke was featured in the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, his return in Injustice 2 is all but certain, and it would be interesting to see him bring some family of his own this time around. If NetherRealm didn’t want to take the time to design yet another unique character moveset, it could make Ravager into an alternate skin for her father, but I would personally rather see Ravager step more fully out of Deathstroke’s shadow.
In a recent interview, NetherRealm said it wants to infuse the Injustice 2 roster with more obscure characters and one could say it has already taken steps towards doing so by confirming characters like Blue Beetle. However, another slightly obscure pick I’d recommend is Spaulding Pruitt, a.k.a. Snakebite. In terms of combat potential, Snakebite is a pretty imposing character on his own, but his lashing snake-like tendrils which can both poison and constrict his enemies could translate very well into an Injustice 2 moveset.
Plus, thanks to some of the more recent New 52 comic runs, Snakebite has a bone to pick with characters like Deathstroke, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn, making his presence in Injustice 2 even more sensible.
This seems like a bit of an obvious pick, but I still think it would be very cool to see. Thanks to NetherRealm’s love of crossover DLC characters, the original Injustice: Gods Among Us featured Mortal Kombat’s undead yellow-clad ninja Scorpion as one of its DLC fighters so it would only make sense that Injustice 2 should get Scorpion’s longtime rival Sub-Zero. NetherRealm fans have already gotten a strong impression of what Sub-Zero can do in Mortal Kombat X, so why not have him cross over and mix it up with the likes of Batman and Wonder Woman?
