E3 2021 dates set, but it’ll be different
The Entertainment Software Association canceled E3 2020 last month due to the coronavirus pandemic, but vowed they’d be in 2021. Now they’ve set dates – E3 2021 will run June 15-17, 2021, according gamesindustry.biz.
Apparently, the news was shared with event partners and were told the 2021 event will be a “reimagined” E3. We're not sure what that means, but there were talks to invite more fans and influencers to the event in 2020 and have an "industry day" where the expo is only open to journalists and exhibitors. The expectation is the event will return to the Los Angeles Convention in 2021, where it has been for more than a decade, despite talk in the past few years of moving the event to a different venue or city.
E3 2020 was already facing a lot of issues with PlayStation opting out for a second year in a row, Geoff Keighley bowing out of his hosting duties for E3 Coliseum, and the possibility of other companies dropping out.
