Dishonored in VR? Maybe one day...

Virtual reality is all the rage right now and several prominent developers have already found ways to work VR into their existing game properties, leading to both dedicated VR experiences like Batman: Arkham VR and optional add-ons like the VR support for games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 7. While it hasn’t formally committed to anything as of yet, Dishonored developer Arkane Studios says that it is very interested in fully immersing fans in the world of Dunwall.

In a recent interview with Games Radar, Arkane level designer Christophe Carrier talked about how Arkane is giving strong consideration to making a Dishonored VR experience, so much consideration in fact that it has already planned out how the player would move around and which features it would probably be best not to include:

"Your only transportation or mobility would be Blink. And you wouldn’t have all the fatalities because they are animated and you don’t want to do that because you’re going to throw up!"

Blink is one of the key powers players got to use in the original Dishonored (and will get to use once again in Dishonored 2), allowing players to supernaturally leap around an environment and quickly scale vertical structures. One can only imagine how it would feel to Blink around an area in virtual reality.

While a Dishonored VR experience is certainly on Arkane’s radar, for now the studio is predominantly focusing on Dishonored 2 which is set to launch on November 11 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
