Disco Elysium TV series in the works
According to Variety, developer ZA/UM has partnered with dj2 Entertainment, the production company behind the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie starring Jim Carrey.
“We’re so gratified at the response Disco Elysium has received and very happy to be teaming with dj2 to expand the franchise for other media and new audiences,” Helen Hindpere, lead writer of ZA/UM told Variety.
“Disco Elysium is a phenomenal property with an expansive world and unlimited potential,” added dj2 CEO and founder Dmitri M. Johnson. “The dj2 team is truly thrilled about this extraordinary opportunity to be part of it all.”
For those who never played the game, in Disco Elysium you play as a detective with an array of skills who tries to solve murders, investigate corruption, and ease tensions in a city that forces you to decide to play as a good cop or a bad cop with consequences on both sides.
The series currently has no writers or network attached, but they’re meeting with various writers to put together a pitch for the plethora of networks and streaming platforms.
In addition to Disco Elysium, dj2 Entertainment is also developing other video games for television like Vampyr, Life is Strange, Little Nightmares as well as developing feature films based on Sleeping Dogs, We Happy Few, among others.
