Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel trailer focuses on new PvP mode
Players who are still enjoying the grim majesty of Dark Souls III have been using unofficial means to engage in organized PvP play, but as you can see in the latest trailer for the game’s upcoming Ashes of Ariandel DLC expansion, they will soon have more official methods of engaging in large-scale PvP combat.
According to a press release from publisher Bandai Namco, the new feature will be called Undead Matches and it will allow players to queue up for various kinds of PvP bouts using an online matchmaking system. Naturally there will be a 1v1 duels mode for players who want to see how they stack up against the best of the best, but the Undead Matches mode will also support team-based battles and chaotic free-for-all melees, both of which can support up to six players at a time.
Ashes of Ariandel will also include new zones to explore, new items to collect, and new NPC enemies to fight on top of its Undead Matches PvP arena. The expansion will be available on October 25 either as a $14.99 standalone purchase or as part of Dark Souls III’s $24.99 season pass. The season pass will also grant access to a second DLC expansion which is set to arrive sometime in early 2017.
