'Console Wars' documentaries headed to CBS All-Access

When Nintendo debuted the Nintendo Entertainment System in the 1980s, the timing was perfect. The gaming industry was suffering from a collapse and the NES was the boost it needed. But with Nintendo’s success comes competition and in the 1990s, the company had its fair share from Sega.

Author Blake J. Harris documented the console wars of the 1990s in his book, Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation, and now CBS will be producing a feature length documentary and a limited docu-series based on the book.

The book, and ultimately the documentary and the docu-series, follows the behind the scenes drama of how Sega, a small but rebellious company took on video game juggernaut, Nintendo, even outselling the NES with Sega Genesis for a moment in the early ‘90s

According to Deadline, the feature length documentary will be directed by Harris and Jonah Tulis while the docu-series will be written by Mike Rosolio with Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached to direct.
