Code Vein gets its first gameplay trailer
Following a few teasers from last month, Bandai Namco has now released the first full-length trailer for its upcoming hack-and-slash vampire title Code Vein, complete with cryptic story bits and gameplay footage.
Judging from what can be seen in the trailer, Code Vein will indeed feature an action-focused melee combat system that harkens back to From Software’s Souls series (the initial tease for Code Vein included the phrase “Prepare to Dine,” so it’s clear that Bandai Namco wanted comparisons to the Souls series to be made from the get-go). A press release that accompanied the trailer also confirms that the game will utilize a companion system in which the player can recruit various AI companions to help them traverse Code Vein’s grim world, and you can see bits of said companion system in action via the trailer as well.
Code Vein currently doesn’t have a specific release date, but the trailer confirms it will be released sometime in 2018. Bandai Namco will likely have more to share about the game during this year’s E3 conference.
