CD Projekt Red's next project Cyberpunk 2077 will be far bigger than The Witcher 3

It's been a long while since we've heard much about Cyberpunk 2077. Since the title was originally announced back in 2012, CD Projekt has been largely scarce on details concerning their newest Sci-Fi RPG. Of course with a game like The Witcher 3 on your docket it's not surprising that they waited to pursue a new franchise until after they polished off a game that many consider the biggest title of 2015.

Yet CD Projekt has far from abandoned their world of bulletproof androids, and riding high off The Witcher 3's undeniable success visual effects artist Jose Teixeira has announced in an interview with that, “Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before, far, far bigger.”

Considering The Witcher 3 covered an astonishing map size of well over 50 square miles with an impressive density of detail worked throughout it's hard to imagine a world that makes it look small in comparison. Although the same was likely said about Skyrim, which despite its age is still considered a massive adventure and went largely unexplored despite the fact that it only encompassed a bare 15 square miles.

Teixeira went on to lament, "The Witcher helped Cyberpunk quite a bit, because the game got so big and so complex that it really taught us. We really didn't know what was going to happen. If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it.”

Judging by the sheer quality of content that the Polish company has churned out over the years we have no doubt that they'll continue to impress with Cyberpunk 2077, they have a fundamental love for gaming and they fold that into every element of their work, which is an undeniable formula for success.

Unfortunately Teixeira was far from interested in giving us a ballpark estimate on when we'll see Cyberpunk hit the market, jokingly professing, “The name of the game is Cyberpunk 2077, and we usually say the release date is 2077,” at least we hope he was joking.
