Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies Free Access Week begins January 14
If you have yet to grab a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but have been itching to check out the game’s new zombie mode, you now have an opportunity to do so.
Activision and developer Treyarch announced Black Ops Cold War Zombies Free Access Week will begin on January 14 and run until January 21. The Free Access Week will feature two Zombie modes and a third mode on PlayStation.
The Die Maschine mode drops players into a WWII-era lab in Poland where a particle collider has opened a rift allowing undead forces to enter the living realm. Up to four players will try to survive waves of zombies over multiple rounds to uncover the secrets of Die Maschine or get out early with their lives intact. The mode pays homage to the first Zombies Mode featured in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War.
Cranked Mode also features players combatting waves of zombies, but this time you have a Cranked Timer attached to your life. As soon as the first zombie appears, the timer starts ticking, and if a player fails to kill a zombie before it hits zero, the player will explode. As the game progresses, the timer gets shorter and shorter. This mode also features a ping system so you can help your fellow soldiers find those roaming zombies.
Onslaught mode, a PlayStation-exclusive mode, is a two-player game on Black Ops Cold War maps where you battle waves of zombies in one location until the Dark Aether Orb is charged by the souls of the undead. The waves get more difficult, with more powerful enemies as you move past each level.
If you enjoy the free access period and purchase the game, your progress from the week will be automatically transferred.
