Beyond Good & Evil film in development at Netflix

Just a day after Ubisoft announced a Splinter Cell anime series, the company is also developing a film based on its Beyond Good & Evil franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ubisoft’s TV and Film division has brought on Rob Lettermen (Detective Pikachu, Goosebumps) to direct, which will be a live-action and animated hybrid. The film is in early development and a writer has yet to be tapped.

The film will be based on the 2003 video game that followed Jade, a young photojournalist who is recruited to be part of an underground resistance movement on a mining planet in the 25th century. The planet is being invaded by aliens and while the military rulers of the planet have promised to protect its citizens, the resistance believes they’re in cahoots with the aliens.

The announcement is yet another franchise where fans have been clamoring for a new game. In 2017, Ubisoft announced they were developing Beyond Good & Evil 2 and shared cinematic and gameplay trailers, but have been mum on the game since 2018.
