Assassin’s Creed audio drama podcast coming in 2020

While Ubisoft has stopped doing the annual release thing for its Assassin’s Creed video game franchise, it looks like they want to keep the stories coming.

Ubisoft recently announced a partnership with Audible to launch Assassin’s Creed Gold, an audio drama series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is set to launch on February 27, 2020 starring Riz Ahmed, Anthony Head, Danny Wallace, and Tamara Lawrence.

The story revolves around card shark and hustler, Aliyah Kahn (Lawrence), who ends up owing some cash to the mysterious Gavin Banks. In order to pay her debt, she becomes an assassin and accesses the memories of her ancestor, Omar Khalid, portrayed by Ahmed, a blind assassin in the 1600s. From there, we expect Khalid goes on to take out some Templars and uncover some conspiracy, you know, like an Assassin’s Creed story.

"Assassin’s Creed has set the highest of bars in the world of gaming," Steve Carsey, director of original content at Audible UK, told THR. "Noted for their historical authenticity, world building, characterization and storytelling, there could be no better universe to explore as an audio drama... Embracing the best of the game’s characters, sophisticated plotting and conspiracy-laden storylines, we couldn’t wait to dive deep into the machinations of this multi-layered universe.”

Look for the drama to launch on the Audible platform.
