Alone in the Dark: Illumination gets a creepy new gameplay trailer

Alone in the Dark: Illumination, the new co-op horror shooter from publisher Atari and developer Pure which was first announced back in September, has gotten a scary new trailer which shows off more of the game’s action-oriented co-op gameplay.

In Illumination, players can take on the role of one of four different characters (the hunter, the witch, the priest, or the engineer) and must use a combination of conventional weaponry and each character’s unique abilities to fend off hoards of Lovecraft-inspired monsters. Each level in Illumination culminates in a final battle against an unkillable elder god, forcing players to either trap the elder god or simply escape.

While Illumination can be played solo, the ideal experience involves having a few friends to back you up. The new trailer highlights the co-op elements, showing both the hunter and witch characters in action. Alone in the Dark: Illumination is set to arrive on both PC and consoles as a digital title sometime later this year.
