8 Marvel’s Avengers DLC characters we’d like to see

Marvel’s Avengers is out, kicking off the fall season of games and offering the chance to play as six of the most important superheroes in the Marvel pantheon. Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, and Ms. Marvel will all be available to play in this Destiny-like take on an action-packed, cinematic superhero experience.

While six characters is a fair number for the launch, it is inevitable that more are on the way. Kate Bishop will be the first DLC character post-launch plus the already announced Hawkeye and eventual (and controversial) exclusive release of Spider-Man on PlayStation 4. But they, plus Ant-Man, are the only known characters at this time. So, here are eight masterclass Avengers we’d like to see join the fight online.

Black Panther

Kicking off this list is none other than Black Panther. The King of Wakanda, T’Challa, is a natural fit for joining the group. One of the most popular heroes to ever join the Avengers, he is not only a comic book favorite but a pop culture icon due to his place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Black Panther would fit in well with his quick melee attacks that would allow for an aggressive playstyle. It is highly likely that he is coming to the game as the most recent War Table presentation was edited due to the tragic death of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is another Avengers hero that has skyrocketed into popularity due to the MCU. With her flashy ability to shoot lasers and glow, she would be a smart addition to the game. Better yet, her moveset could easily be based on Iron Man’s, making Carol Danver’s addition to the roster a whole lot simpler for Crystal Dynamics to implement.

Daredevil is most commonly known for his time in the Defenders, not the Avengers, but that hasn’t stopped him from showing up as part of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes every once in a while. For a brief period of time, this martial arts master was part of the New Avengers, certainly allowing for his inclusion in Marvel’s Avengers.

Doctor Strange

When it comes to the current roster of playable Avengers, they are certainly lacking in the supernatural department. That is where Doctor Strange comes in as he can bring the much-needed magical elements of Marvel into the game.

Doctor Strange could not only reinvigorate gameplay with portals and whatnot, but he could also allow for a more magical storyline following the hero. A short DLC plotline included with his release could take players to fascinating locales like the Dark Dimension and more.

Marvel’s Avengers is also lacking currently in the flying department and one hero that could fill that gap is none other than Falcon. Captain America’s pal Sam Wilson could bring more aerial combat to the game but in a different way from Iron Man, due to his melee focus.

Combine those two aspects together and Falcon could become a scout-like party member who can fly ahead of the rest of the group to inform everyone of what’s ahead and also quickly complete objectives while the more grounded characters are keeping the enemies occupied.

Scarlet Witch

One of the most powerful Avengers ever is Scarlet Witch. We could see her moveset be a collection of destructive magical abilities. To balance out her unbelievable strength, Scarlet Witch could be a “glass cannon” of sorts, able to dish out insane damage from afar but can be taken down quickly if the player isn’t careful.

Her inclusion would fit well with the rest of the group, complementing the other beefier characters like the Hulk to help make a more balanced team of heroes.

In all honesty, you can’t release Scarlet Witch as a DLC character in Marvel’s Avengers without including her longtime lover Vision. This android enemy turned friend could work well in a storyline that brings him and Scarlet Witch into the game at the same time.

Crystal Dynamics could even take a page from the MCU and have its version of Vision be infused with the Mind Stone/Gem. That would give him some impressive abilities at his disposal and lay the foundations for a possible Thanos storyline further down the road.

Though commonly associated with the X-Men, Wolverine has spent plenty of quality time with the Avengers in the comics. In fact, he even turned on his mutant brethren and fought against them in the Avengers vs. X-Men comic series.

Marvel’s Avengers doesn’t have any mutants at this point, so adding the most famous one would only take the title to a new level. Not to mention, running around and slicing up bad guys with Wolverine’s signature claws could be an absolute blast.

These are the Avengers DLC characters that we would like to see, but there are hundreds of possible superheroes that could join the roster. Who would you like to see join Iron Man, Thor, and the gang as a playable character?
