200-player matches coming to Call of Duty: Warzone

As soon as Call of Duty: Warzone launched in March, it skyrocketed to one of the most played free-to-play games on every platform and one of the most-watched games on Twitch. The folks at Infinity Ward and Raven Software have been working on the game nonstop and the game’s next update is a big one.

In a post on the official Call of Duty blog, Activision announced the latest update (arriving on June 29 at 11 pm PST) will bring in 200-player matches in Battle Royale Quads. Yes, you and 199 other players will be dropping into Verdansk hoping to come out on top.

In addition to the increase of match size, the update will also bring Supply Run Contracts, where you can get discounted items at Buy Stations, Juggernaut Royale mode, where players can snag an airdropped package rock a Juggernaut suit and wield a minigun, and a piece a new gear called the Spotter Scope, where players can scope an area without the glint of the scope tipping players off to your location.

The update also gives players a new sniper rifle, a new map called Cheshire Park, and a new multiplayer mode called Team Defender. Team Defender puts a twist on the Capture-the-Flag game where instead of teams defending their flags, there’s only one flag on the map, one player captures it and attempts to hold on to it for as long as possible. The opposing team tries to take that player out, while his teammates try to defend him.
